Polymarket rewards explained: how they work, how to earn them, and how much is paid
Polymarket pays traders well over $100 million a year in rewards and rebates, most of it to people who keep orders on the book. Here is how each program works, how to earn from it, and what the numbers show.
Trading on Polymarket is not the only way to earn on it. Every day, Polymarket pays out rewards and rebates to the traders who make its markets work: the ones who keep orders on the book, the ones who trade the most, the ones who hold long-dated positions, and the ones who bring in new users.
Those payments are bigger than most people realise. Farsight reads every payout straight off the blockchain, and the totals below come from that record. You can see all of them, day by day, on Farsight's Polymarket statistics page.
The numbers at a glance
As of October 29, 2026, counted from every payout on chain:
| Program | Paid in total | Paid since |
|---|---|---|
| Liquidity rewards | $38.5M | November 2023 |
| Maker rebates | $47.0M | January 2026 |
| Taker rebates | $41.6M | June 2026 |
| Referral rewards | $9.9M | March 2026 |
| Holding rewards (yield) | $3.2M | July 2025 |
Together that is about $140 million, more than $100 million of it paid in 2026 alone. On a typical day in October 2026, Polymarket paid out roughly $160,000 in liquidity rewards, $155,000 to $170,000 in maker rebates and around $200,000 in taker rebates. The live figures, by day, week and month, are on the statistics page.
Liquidity rewards: getting paid to quote
Liquidity rewards are Polymarket's oldest program. They pay traders for keeping limit orders on the book close to a market's midpoint price, whether or not those orders ever fill. The more liquidity you provide, and the tighter you quote, the bigger your share of the market's daily reward pool.
How it works, according to Polymarket's own documentation:
- Each rewarded market sets its own rules: a daily reward pool, a maximum spread from the midpoint and a minimum order size. Orders outside the spread or below the size earn nothing.
- Closer is better: an order's score falls off quadratically with its distance from the midpoint, so an order one cent away is worth far more than one at the edge of the allowed spread.
- Both sides pay more: quoting a bid and an ask is favoured. When the price is between 10¢ and 90¢, one-sided liquidity still scores, at a third of the rate. Outside that range, only two-sided liquidity counts.
- Sampled every minute: the order book is sampled once a minute at a random moment, up to 1,440 times a day, so orders have to be there most of the time, not just at one moment.
- Paid daily: rewards go straight to your wallet every day at midnight UTC. Amounts under $1 are not paid.
The record: Polymarket has paid $38.5 million in liquidity rewards since November 2023: about $6.2 million in 2024, $5.2 million in 2025 and $27.0 million so far in 2026. Over the past year that is $27.8 million, and over the last 30 days $4.9 million, or about $163,000 a day. The largest single day on record was August 7, 2026, at $644,000. The most successful providers earn serious money: the top earner over the past year collected more than $800,000 in liquidity rewards alone.
Sponsors can also add to a market's pool on top of what Polymarket pays, so a market's daily reward can rise when someone wants more liquidity in it. Farsight's market pages show each market's current daily reward, the size and spread it requires, and who is sponsoring it.
Maker rebates: a share of the fees
Polymarket charges a taker fee on many market types. Part of that fee is paid back every day to the makers, the traders whose resting orders were filled. Unlike liquidity rewards, a maker rebate only comes when your order actually trades, and it grows with how much of your volume was filled as a maker. Polymarket sets the share of the fee that goes back, and it can differ by category and change over time.
The record: maker rebates began in January 2026 and have already passed $47.0 million, the largest of all the programs. The biggest day so far was July 8, 2026, at $480,000, and recent days have run at around $155,000 to $170,000.
Taker rebates: paid for trading
Taker rebates, launched in 2026, pay back part of the fees that takers pay. Your rebate depends on a tier set by your "weighted volume" over the past 30 days: your trade size, multiplied by the upside left in the price (one minus the price you paid), and by a category weight that is highest for crypto and lowest for sports.
According to Polymarket's documentation, tiers run from Bronze at $2,000 of 30-day weighted volume (a 3% rebate) to Obsidian at $10 million or more (50%), with a one-off bonus each time you reach a new tier. Rebates are paid daily at midnight UTC, need at least $1 to pay out, and only count trades made after you reach a tier. Trades in markets without a taker fee, and in geopolitics markets, do not count.
The record: taker rebates have paid out $41.6 million since June 2026, with a record day of $2.8 million on July 9, 2026. A normal day now runs at around $200,000.
Holding rewards: yield on long-dated positions
On some long-dated markets, such as elections years away, Polymarket pays a holding reward: interest on the value of the position you hold, at an annual rate that has been around 4%, accrued and paid daily. You do not need to place any orders. You just hold eligible shares. The markets that qualify are set by Polymarket and marked on the market itself, and the rate can change.
The record: holding rewards have paid $3.2 million since July 2025, about $11,000 on a typical recent day.
Referral rewards
Polymarket's referral program pays traders for bringing in new users, as a share of the activity those users generate. Since March 2026 it has paid $9.9 million, with a peak of $195,000 on a single day in June 2026.
How to earn Polymarket rewards
- Find rewarded markets. On Farsight's markets page, sort or filter by daily reward to see which markets pay the most to liquidity providers, and check each one's maximum spread and minimum size.
- Quote both sides, close to the midpoint. Two-sided orders near the middle score the most, and they are the only thing that counts at extreme prices.
- Stay on the book. Because the book is sampled every minute, orders that sit there all day earn far more than orders placed for an hour.
- Manage the risk. Resting orders get filled when the price moves through them, often just as news breaks. Rewards rarely make up for being on the wrong side of a big move, so keep sizes sensible and pull orders before major events.
- Trade in fee markets as a maker. If you trade anyway, letting your limit orders be filled rather than crossing the spread earns maker rebates instead of paying fees.
- Know your taker tier. If you take liquidity often, your 30-day weighted volume sets your rebate, so it helps to know where the next tier starts.
Who earns the most
The Polymarket statistics page ranks the top 100 earners of every program over the last day, week, month and year, each with their share of the total. Rewards are concentrated: over the past year, the five largest liquidity reward earners each collected between roughly $440,000 and $820,000. Click any name to open their profile and see how they trade.
On every Farsight profile, the profit chart splits a trader's total into trading profit, liquidity rewards, yield, maker rebates, taker rebates and fees, so you can see at a glance whether someone wins by picking outcomes or mostly earns by providing liquidity.
Are rewards worth it?
For traders who already make markets or trade often, rewards and rebates can add a meaningful amount on top of trading profit, and for some of the most active wallets they are the main source of income. For a casual trader, the effort and risk of keeping orders on the book every day usually outweigh a few dollars of rewards. Start small in one or two markets you understand, watch how often your orders get filled and at what price, and grow only if the numbers hold up.
